Man arrested for aggravated battery, reckless driving (newschannel20.com) — A 23-year-old driver was arrested in Springfield after authorities say he struck a man with his truck in the parking lot of On Stop Food & Liquor on MLK Jr. Boulevard. Security video reportedly shows the truck turning and hitting the victim, who was hospitalized with suspected broken bones before the driver was booked into Sangamon County Jail.
   

2. Police arrest man for burglary, theft of property (newschannel20.com) — Springfield police arrested a 23-year-old man after responding to a burglary alarm at Ideal Auto Sales on South Dirksen Parkway, where a window had been smashed. Officers say they recovered missing keys and license plates and reviewed video allegedly showing the suspect entering through the broken window and taking items from the office.
   

3. Beadle to leave 'Visit Springfield,' but says there are plenty of things to do in the city in September (capitolcitynow.com) — Springfield's longtime tourism voice Amy Beadle is leaving her role at Visit Springfield just as a packed September events calendar kicks off. From the Springfield Mile and revived Beer and Oyster "FEZtival" to Bacon and Blues at The Railyard and the 25th Mother Road Festival, residents have plenty to plan for around town.
