Council members also advanced no-parking rules on North Union and Irene, pre-annexation for Tall Timber Road property, and maintenance for the city’s elevated water tower.

• Bunker Hill Coop Boys Tennis Ends Season With Program-Best Six Wins (stauntonstartimes.com) — Staunton tennis fans can celebrate a record-setting season for the Bunker Hill–Staunton co-op boys team, which earned six wins and an IHSA Team Academic Award. Led by Staunton captain Carson Dugger, players racked up athletic, academic, and fun candy-themed honors at a lively awards banquet that also bid farewell to several seniors.

• Obituary of Betty Jane Schuette (thebengilpost.com) — Staunton is mourning longtime resident Betty Jane Schuette, 76, who passed away May 27 and worked many years at the local Chevrolet dealership. Friends and family can pay respects Monday, June 8, at Net Community Church in Staunton, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery and memorials suggested to the church or Meals on Wheels.
