Meet Staunton Volunteer Firefighter, Board Vice President And Department Captain Steve Carlson (stauntonstartimes.com) — Staunton residents get an inside look at Captain Steve Carlson, the volunteer firefighter and ambulance employee who moved here seeking community and found a second family in the fire department. 3. Staunton Honored At 98th Annual FFA Convention (stauntonstartimes.com) — Staunton FFA members brought home a sweep of top honors at the 98th Illinois FFA Convention, including Section 15 Premier Chapter and first runner-up Premier Chapter in the entire state. Local students earned major proficiency awards in mechanics, livestock, and food service, and the chapter advanced as a National Chapter Award finalist, spotlighting Staunton’s strong agricultural education program.

4. In Loving Memory of Zane Dudley (riverbender.com) — Staunton is mourning the passing of 75-year-old lifelong resident Zane Dudley, who died peacefully at home on July 7 with his wife by his side. A retired Monterey Coal Company worker, he was devoted to family, simple hobbies, and his pets; cremation has taken place, with a private graveside service planned and memorials suggested to Staunton Assembly of God or Adopt-A-Pet of Benld.
