2 St. Charles Students Are National Merit Semifinalists

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.

St. Charles North High School students have been named as semifinalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Johnathon Small and Hannah Werman are among 16,000 students nationwide who have been selected for this honor.

The next phase of the National Merit Scholarship Program is in February, when the finalists are notified. The National Merit Scholarship Program began in 1955 as an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test — a test that serves as an initial screen of about 1.5 million entrants each year — and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements.
