7 St. Charles District 303 Schools Win Excellence Awards

Richmond Intermediate honored with ISBE Academic Improvement Award.

 

The state has recognized seven local schools for excellence and another for academic improvement, St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 announced Monday.

The recognition comes from the Illinois State Board of Education, which issued its Academic Excellence Award for 2012, a release from the district stated. Locally, the ISBE issued the award to Corron, Ferson Creek, Fox Ridge, Lincoln, Norton Creek, Wasco, and Wild Rose elementary schools.

Richmond Intermediate School was named as one of 81 statewide recipients of the ISBE Academic Improvement Award for 2012 for making substantial gains in student performance.

90 percent of students meeting or exceeding state standards in both reading and math for at least three consecutive years in pre-kindergarten through 8th-grade schools.
The school achieving Adequate Yearly Progress in 2011 and 2012.

Statewide, 454 schools earned the Academic Excellence Award for 2012.

  • District 303 is one of eight school districts in Illinois to have seven or more schools earn the Academic Excellence Award for 2012.
  • Four unit school districts had more award schools than District 303. They are Chicago, Elmhurst, Indian Prairie and Naperville, and each of those four districts has more total schools than District 303.
  • District 303 schools earned 1.5 percent of all the awards given statewide even though District 303’s 17 schools account for only 0.3 percent of all schools in Illinois.
  • This was Lincoln Elementary’s sixth consecutive year winning the award; it was the fifth consecutive year for Ferson Creek, Fox Ridge, Norton Creek and Wasco.
