Aiston Lands in Batavia as Economic Development Consultant
Chris Aiston will earn $88,000 a year as an economic development consultant for the city of Batavia.

Former St. Charles economic development director Chris Aiston, who also has served as economic development director for Geneva during his 30-year career, has landed in Batavia as an economic development consultant.
Aiston will earn $88,000 a year in consulting fees, but the city won't have to pay benefits, since Aiston won't be a full-time employee, the Tribune reports.
St. Charles Patch reported July 14 Aiston would retire on July 31 as St. Charles' economic development director on July 31.
Aiston was pivotal in retaining businesses in St. Charles, such as Sears and three automobile dealerships; as well as attracting new businesses, such as the Triumph motorcycle dealership and RR Donnelley. He also was instrumental in fostering a more collaborative relationship with the Downtown St. Charles Partnership by cooperating on events, marketing, and advertising. He also has served on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce since his arrival in St. Charles.

Batavia had been looking for a full-time economic development director after part-timer Meredith Hannah left in February. Hannah had served as economic development analyst since July 2008, the Kane County Chronoicle reports.
