Amid Thunder and Lightning, the St. Charles East Class of 2011 Graduates
The heavens parted with torrents of rain and thunder boomed in the background, but members of the 2011 graduating class from St. Charles East got their diplomas.
About 530 graduates of St. Charles East High School received diplomas Sunday in a ceremony at the Sears Centre Auditorium in Hoffman Estates.
The area was hit with lightning and thunderstorms that dumped 2.31 inches of rain in the suburb as graduates scrambled to get inside for the ceremony.
Valedictorian Morgan Ketterling and Salutatorian Gina Bartindale spoke to classmates about being "Together as Saints," and Class President Cooper Jones encouraged graduates to "Go Long."
