Anderson Humane Plans To Rescue More Beagles
The local animal shelter will be headed back to Virginia to help rescue beagles from Envigo, a breeding and research facility in Virginia.
SOUTH ELGIN, IL — Anderson Humane is headed back to Virginia to help rescue more beagles.
Earlier this month, the animal shelter brought in and cared for more than 100 beagles that were rescued from Envigo, a breeding and research facility in Virginia, and helped the pups find foster and new forever homes. Anderson Humane announced last week they'd make the trek back to Virginia to rescue more pups.
Anderson Humane is now seeking donations, which can be made to help pay for care the beagles will need. Each pup will need a full physical exam, heartworm tests, vaccines, to be spayed and/or neutered and mud more, according to a post on the Anderson Humane Facebook page.

The Humane Society of the United States has spearheaded the effort to transfer the dogs from the Envigo facility to shelters across the country in what has been called a "historic operation." Many of these dogs were bound for animal testing laboratories across the country, according to the Humane Society.
Envigo, a breeding and research facility in Virginia, was recently found guilty of dozens of federal regulation violations, resulting in dogs being ill, injured, underfed and, in some cases, dead, according to Anderson Humane.
