Awards Pickup Event for Fox Valley Marathon, Half Marathon, Fall Final 20 Races

An Awards Pickup Night is planned 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5 at in St. Charles for runners who won overall or age group awards in the Fox Valley Marathon, Half Marathon and Fall Final 20 races on Sept. 18.

The event is for those who have not yet received awards.

Race officials also have tabulated the following statistics from the 2011 events.

In the marathon:

• 856 runners finished the race
• 377 of finishers were female
• 479 of finishers were male
• The average marathon race time was 4:14:58

In the half marathon:

• 463 runners finished the race
• 315 of finishers were female
• 148 of finishers were male
• The average race time was 2:18:59

In the 20 mile run:

• 213 runners finished the race
• 107 of finishers were female
• 106 of finishers were male
• The average race time was 3:21:31

Following are overall event statistics:

• Organizers saw a 91 percent increase in registered runners from 2010 to 2011
• Registration was full for all races in 127 days
• Registration in the first-ever Kids Marathon totaled 235 participants
• 23.5 percent of Fox Valley Marathon runners finished the race as their first-ever complete marathon
• 37.5 percent of Half Marathon runners finished the race as their first-ever complete half marathon
• 20.6 percent of marathon runners were attempting to qualify for the Boston Marathon
• 58.5 percent of those attempting to qualify for the Boston Marathon actually qualified
• The average finish time for marathon was 4:14 (the average national finish time is 4:38)
