Back to School Aug. 22: Norton Creek Prepares

Community Unit School District 303 students head back to their classrooms next Wednesday.

is welcoming back its students and families as Community Unit School District 303 prepares for the first day of the school year on Aug. 22.

An email, the school announced it is updating parents about some updates and changes for the new school year.

On Wednesday, Aug. 23

On the first day of school for grades K-5, the school is asking parents to be sure their children:

  • Do not arrive before 8:20 a.m.
  • Students in grades K-2 report to the community room at the beginning of the first day.
  • Students in grades 3-5 report to the gym at the beginning of the first day.
  • Parents are welcome to bring students to school and stay with them until dismissal to class at 8:30 a.m. Teachers will walk children to class.
  • Half-day kindergartners will be released at 11:15 a.m. at the front of the building.
  • Students will be dismissed from their classrooms at 3 p.m.

Beginning Thursday, Aug. 23:

  • Outside teacher supervision begins at 8:20 a.m., when students may arrive.
  • Students will wait outside the front of the building and enter at 8:25 a.m., when they will go directly to their classrooms.
  • Half-day kindergartners will be released at 11:15 a.m. at the front of the building.
  • Students will be dismissed from their classrooms at 3 p.m.
