Burglars Steal $17,000 Motorcycle from St. Charles Dealership: Police
The alleged thieves broke a glass window at the Fox River Harley Davidson to get inside.

ST. CHARLES, IL - St. Charles Police are searching for burglars accused of breaking into Fox River Harley Davidson early Sunday and stealing a motorcycle from the business. Police believe the thieves had hoped to get away with more motorcycles but their plans were thwarted when officers arrived on scene to check on a burglar alarm at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found a glass door at the Fox River Harley Davidson, 131 S. Randall Road, had been smashed. Officers also found a new motorcycle that was lying on its side just outside the door, according to a police department news release.
“It was apparent that the officers interrupted a burglary and the offenders were stealing new motorcycles,” said St. Charles Police Department Deputy Chief David Kintz. “The offenders had fled the scene prior to the officers arriving.”

A 2016 Aprilia Tuono F sport bike motorcycle, which was silver, black, and red in color, was taken. The motorcycle was stolen from the Triumph dealership, which operates inside of the Fox River Harley Davidson store. The bike is valued at $17,000.
The offenders used a landscaping rock to smash out the glass door and then unlocked another door to take the motorcycles, according to the news release.

The keys were in the ignition for the motorcycle that was taken in addition to the one that was left behind.
Police are not sure how many burglars broke into the local dealership, Kintz said in an e-mail response. They also do not have any surveillance photos or video of the crime.
"They were gone before officers arrived," he said.
