Car Stolen in DeKalb Co. Double Homicide Found Near Lincoln Park Zoo

Ten days after Patricia and Robert Wilson were found murdered near Sycamore, police in Chicago found the car stolen from Patricia's home.

DEKALB COUNTY, IL - A major development came Wednesday in the unsolved murders of an elderly mother and her son when police located the car stolen from the home of Patricia Wilson following the double homicide earlier this month near Sycamore.

Chicago police found the 2010 Chevrolet Impala during the early morning hours of Wednesday in the area of the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, authorities said Thursday.

The discovery comes ten days after Patricia Wilson, 85, and her son, Robert Wilson, were found beaten to death inside Patricia’s home at 16058 Old State Road in rural Sycamore just before 6 p.m. on Aug. 15. Police believe the killer, or killers, forced their way into the home before fleeing in Patricia’s Chevrolet Impala. No one is in custody and little information has been provided into any potential suspect or suspects.

Locating the car has been a focal point for the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office investigation. The car, which was found in the general area of the Lincoln Park ZOO, 2001 N. Clark Street in Chicago, early on Wednesday could have been there for several days, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release. The car was not occupied at the time.

Chicago Police worked with the DeKalb County Major Case Squad to keep the “vehicle under surveillance” throughout the day on Wednesday, police said. Later in the day, the car was returned to DeKalb County. Evidence technicians worked late into the night processing the vehicle for evidence. Potential evidence recovered from the vehicle is being delivered to the State Crime Lab, according to the news release.
