Crowds Brave the Chill for St. Charles Fine Art Show
Winners named in annual art showcase, which continues today with a little warmer weather.
There were photographers, potters, artists who draw, sketch and paint, sculptors who mold or weld metal, others who weave fabric, others who shape glass. All were gathered beneath overcast skies downtown on Riverside Avenue and along Walnut Street on Saturday for the St. Charles Fine Art Show.
The 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013. The juried show features more than 110 artists in various mediums, as well as artist demonstrations.
Saturday afternoon, there was a hustle an bustle, a hum of activity and the lively sounds of music as people walked among the booths, looking for that special something to spruce up a living room or den, or perhaps to serve as a gift for a loved one.

They milled about, stopping from time to time to gaze along shelves of pottery or sculpture, or to wander among miniature, makeshift corridors set up beneath the tented booths to serve as galleries for photographers, painters and other artists, such as one man who creates pencil drawings, many of which could pass for black and white photographs.
In the Feature Tent, representatives of , were on hand, demonstrating the various aspects of “The Art of Weaving.”

At midafternoon Saturday, the Downtown St. Charles Partnership announced the show’s winners. They are:
- Best or Show: James Petran
- Awards of Excellence: Zuxin Yu, Lawrence Oliverson, Brian Sykes, Joann Bauman, W. Scott Wilson, Taylor Mazer
- Judges Awards: Teresa Wooden, Kate Tillman, Ezra Siegel
The St. Charles Fine Art Show, which also features a family photo booth, live musical entertainment, a historic downtown trolley tour and artist demonstrations, continues today, rain or shine, on Riverside Avenue between Main Street/Route 64 and Illinois Avenue in downtown St. Charles.
