Drive-In Concerts To Debut In St. Charles Next Week

ST. CHARLES, IL — After a bleak spring due to the coronavirus pandemic, the good times are set to make a bit of a comeback July 16 in St. Charles with the debut of drive-in concerts. The St. Charles Park District recently announced a slate of summer concerts to run every Thursday evening at Otter Cove Aquatic Park.
Parking for the concerts will start at 6 p.m. in the parking lot. Bands will perform on the north end of the parking lot. Those who come earliest will be closest to the stage, officials said. Residents can reserve two spaces in the lot for $5. Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. the day of the concert, according to officials.

Groups must maintain at least 6 feet of space between them, and masks are encouraged, officials said.

In the case of bad weather, officials said they will try to cancel performances by 4 p.m., before cars start lining up.

There is little to no shade in the parking lot, officials warned, but restrooms will be available at the splash park. Pop-up tents are not allowed at the summer concerts, officials said.
There will not be concessions, but Charlie Fox’s Pizzeria & Eatery will be operating a pizza drive-thru, according to the park district’s website. Concertgoers can pick up pizzas and drinks before parking.
