Elderly Couple From St. Charles Killed In Crash

The single-vehicle crash happened last week in Wisconsin.

ST. CHARLES -- An elderly couple from St. Charles is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 in Wisconsin last week. Edward Grzesik Sr., 81, and Shirlyn Grzesik, 73, were heading east on I-90 at milepost 65 near New Lisbon when their vehicle drifted into the median, narrowly missing a guardrail, and proceeded parallel along the guardrail before vaulting off the incline of an overpass, authorities said.

The couple’s vehicle then struck the overpass bridge before coming to a rest, according to the Daily Herald. The collision happened at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 24.

A visitation for both Shirlyn and Edward will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street in St. Charles. A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at St. Patrick Downtown Catholic Church, 400 Cedar Street in St. Charles.
