Elgin Man Gets Prison Time for Eighth DUI

Joseph Martinez was sentenced to seven years in prison after Hoffman Estates police pulled him over in July for drunken driving.

ELGIN, IL - A 45-year-old Elgin man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his eighth drunken driving offense.

Joseph Martinez was pulled over by Hoffman Estates police on July 15 after dispatch received a call about a reckless driver near Sutton and Gulf roads, according to the Daily Herald. Breathalyzer results showed Martinez’s blood alcohol content at .14. The legal limit in Illinois is .08.
