Fox Valley Philharmonic "Virtuosity and Velocity" Concert

On April 29th, at 3:00 p.m., the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maryann Flock, will present a free concert featuring a display of virtuoso performances by both guest soloists and orchestral soloists.  Two Vivaldi concertos are on the program.  Guest guitarists Adam Huff and Jeff Rolando will perform Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Mandolins. The other Vivaldi piece, Concerto for Violin in A Minor, is performed by the winner of this year's "Fox Valley Academy Concerto Competition”, Liza Scheidler.

Two short solo works will also be on the program.  Principal bassoonist, Katie Brouch, will be the featured soloist with the Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet performing an interesting adaption of the jocular 1st movement from Mozart's Bassoon Concerto. Young Hee Chung, organist, will be performing Eugene Gigout's majestically powerful Grand Choeur Dialogué with the Philharmonic Brass and Percussion.  And last, with no less virtuosity, the orchestra will showcase dazzling displays of orchestral tone color in Rimsky-Korsakov's spectacular Capriccio Espagnol.
