Regretting Mr. Wright: Mamah Tells Her Own Story

The St. Charles Heritage Center is excited to announce a special program detailing the life of Mamah Bouton Borthwick.

 

Just over 98 years ago Mamah Bouton Borthwick, her two children and four other people were brutally murdered and Frank Lloyd Wright’s home in Spring Green Wisconsin was burned to the ground. Why? Mamah Bouton Borthwick, played by Ellie Carlson, will tell you why. Mamah was immortalized in the book Loving Frank,a bestseller by Nancy Horan. But, that was a work of fiction.

Meet Mamah, the real Mamah, for yourself and come to understand why this well-educated, articulate woman worked so hard to change the society in which she lived; why she left her husband and children to pursue her own scholarship and her work with Frank Lloyd Wright.

Please join us on Tuesday, August 28, from 2 – 3 pm at the Pottawatomie Community Center to listen to the fascinating story of Mamah’s life. Tickets are required for this event and can be purchased at the St. Charles Heritage Center or by calling Natalie at 630-584-6967. Tickets are $15 each, or $10 each for members of the St. Charles Heritage Center.

The St. Charles Heritage Center operates the St. Charles History Museum and Gift Shop located at 215 E.
