Robert W. Addison Exhibit

Robert W. Addison, Chicago-based realist painter, passed away some 24 years ago.  On September 8 at the Yorkville Public Library you can view a number of his works and learn about him and the serigraph printing process he used to create limited editions.

For twenty-three years, until his passing in 1988, Addison's work was displayed at the Merrill Chase Galleries in Chicago and suburban showrooms.

On exhibit at the library are several of his Victorian house street scenes, a barn, a theater, a farm house, and the remains of an old steamboat. Addison repeatedly returned to the subjects that the loved: weathered edifices, archaic farm implements, vintage carousels, and sun-dappled American homes.

The exhibit will be on display throughout September, but a discussion of Addison and his work will only be on Saturday, September 8, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  The talk will be given by Addison collector and Yorkville resident Howard Manthei.  Howard and his wife, Mariann, are avid collectors of his work.
