Tooty's Corner @ The Arcada Theatre

On the near south side of Chicago the streets bustled with excitement in the post war era. It is the 1950s and the corner at 28th and Princeton is fondly known as Tootys Corner. It was home to Tootys, the neighborhood grocery store, a mom and pop place where Tooty, the local grocer, greeted customers by name. A neighborhood where everyone knew one another and most importantly looked out for each other.
Growing up in the era and in the neighborhood was something special. Tootys Corner became the meeting place for a group of guys, most with nick names like, The Miles, Richie Cat, Charlie Bolt, Yo Yo, Richie Ragsand of course, Tooty.
The guys mostly talked about girls, baseball, the White Sox, and cars. They ate Italian beef and sausage sandwiches, they played sewer-top baseball, they flirted with the neighborhood girls and every now and again got into a bit of trouble. but nothing too bad.
Playwright, Michael Maione paints a nostalgic picture of that corner and just what it meant to have a place to go and to be a part of something special. Tootys Corner, the guys, the neighborhood, the era and the bonds that were made that would last a life time. Step back in time as Tootys Corner  The Stage Play, brings you back to a time when everything seemed to be a bit easier.
