What's That Tree?

Identifying trees in winter is not as daunting as it may seem! Using a botanical key to identify native trees, instructor Valerie Blaine will share tips to help de-mystify tree identification. Learn the basics of observing various barks, branches, form, habit, habitat, twigs, leaf scars and buds. Class begins indoors with a lecture/presentation and ends with a hike outside to practice new skills. Hand-outs and reference materials provided. Class for ages 18+. The "Learn from the Experts" classes are taught by top experts in their field and offer in-depth information and learning opportunities. Classes are offered in partnership with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Geneva Park District and Fox Valley Park District.
