Former St. Charles North Employee Sentenced for Having Sexual Contact With Student

Christopher A. Lee will spend four years in prison and must register as a sex offender.

A former St. Charles North High School employee is headed to prison for having sexual contact with a minor.

Christopher A. Lee, 31, of the 300 block of North 15th Street in St. Charles, was sentenced on Monday to four years in prison as part of plea deal, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. During the plea hearing Monday, Lee pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

Between February and May 2015, Lee, who was a dean’s assistant at St. Charles North at the time, had sexual contact with a student at the school who was under the age of 18, Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Debra Bree said during the plea hearing on Monday. The sexual contact did not take place on school property, prosecutors said.

“Everyone who works at a school, whether full-time, part-time or as a volunteer, is entrusted with the well-being of every child at the school. Parents rightfully trust that their children are in good hands at school. Mr. Lee defied that trust. Students deserve a safe environment to learn and grow, and not be taken advantage of. This sentence reflects that,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said.

Lee remained free on a $15,000 bond. He was ordered to surrender to the court on Dec. 27 to begin his sentence.
