Free Meals Available For Kane County Veterans, Senior Citizens
Several Kane County organizations are partnering to support veterans and seniors with drive-thru meal-distribution events starting Friday.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County officials are set to help feed local veterans and senior citizens amid the coronavirus pandemic, with four drive-thru meal-distribution events scheduled for this summer.
The Kane Senior Council is partnering with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the Veterans Assistance Commission and staff at the Kane County Judicial Center to support the county’s veterans and residents aged 60 and older.

Officials are scheduled to distribute five packs of frozen meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Kane County Judicial Center, according to a news release. The groups are also set to distribute food at drive-thru events on July 17, Aug. 21 and Sept. 18.
"The Sheriff’s Office is proud of this partnership and collaboration that will allow us to bring meals to older adults in Kane County," Sheriff’s Office Detective Krysta Kaus said in the release.

Kane Senior Council Executive Director Marylin Krolak said her organization is "thrilled" to support the county’s older residents by handing out meals.

The Kane Senior Council "looks forward to working together with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office to provide services that allow older adults to age in place," Krolak said.
Those who are interested in receiving meals at the events must call (630) 812-6775 to register, the releases states. Vehicles should enter the Kane County Judicial Center parking lot from Peck Road to pick up meals.
The Kane Senior Council is also seeking volunteers to help deliver meals to senior citizens who are unable to drive to the distribution events. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact (630) 746-0909. The organization is also accepting donations to support its programs.
