Geneva Man Killed After Truck Collides With Semi in St. Charles Parking Lot

The semi was backing into a loading dock in the parking lot of a business when the crash occurred Wednesday afternoon.

ST. CHARLES, IL - Alcohol may have played a factor in a crash Wednesday that killed a 67-year-old Geneva man.

Thomas Chlebowski, of 416 N. Glengary Drive in Geneva, was driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra east on Stern Avenue in St. Charles at 2:05 p.m. when he crossed into the westbound lane and then went up onto a parkway, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release.

The Toyota traveled into a parking lot and collided with the front passenger side tire of a 2017 Freightliner semi-truck, which was backing into a loading dock at a business at 3810 Stern Avenue, police said. The semi-truck and its trailer was completely in the parking lot at the time of the crash.

Chlebowski was transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. He was then airlifted to
Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital and later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the semi, Keith Eskiar, 35, of 604 N.Edgewood Ave in Lombard, was not injured as a result of the crash.

A preliminary investigation showed that alcohol may have contributed to the crash, police said.

No citations have been issued as a result of this crash, according to the news release.
