Grease Fire Damages St. Charles Restaurant
The blaze caused about $1,000 in damage to the contents of the Eden on the River Restaurant in St. Charles.
ST. CHARLES, IL — A grease fire at the Eden on the River restaurant caused about $1,000 in damage, fire officials said Friday. The St. Charles Fire Department was called to the blaze at the restaurant, located at 1 Illinois Street, at 3:19 p.m. on Friday.
A sprinkler ended up extinguishing the fire but smoke spread through both floors of the structure. The building was evacuated and the Illinois Street Bridge was closed for about 45 minutes while firefighters worked at the scene, according to a news release.
No one was injured, fire officials said. The cause of the fire has been listed as accidental due to cooking.
