Health Department: Recall Issued for Some Skippy Peanut Butter
Limited recall includes Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread.

A limited recall has been issued this week for Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread because of possible Salmonella contamination, according to the Kane County Health Department.
The recall by Unilever United States, Inc., is being conducted with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to a health department news release. No other Skippy products reportedly are affected by this recall.
The recalled products were distributed in Illinois, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

According to the release, Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people people with the organism can have symptoms that include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
