UPDATE: Inmate, 19, Captured After Escaping from St. Charles Youth Detention Center

A 19-year-old man who escaped this past week from the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles has been captured, according to the Kane County Chronicle.

Denzell Walker was taken back into custody at 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday without incident by the Department of Correction’s Apprehension Unit and the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Task Force, the newspaper reports.

Authorities were not releasing information on where Walker was captured.

Original Post: Authorities continued to search Tuesday for a 19-year-old man who escaped from a youth detention center in St. Charles Monday night, the Daily Herald reports.

Officials could not say how Denzell Walker, 19, escaped from the Illinois Youth Center, which is a medium-security facility at 3825 Campton Hills Drive, at about 10 p.m. Monday, according to media reports.

Walker was in custody for violating his parole on pending burglary charges, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“The public should exercise caution and contact law enforcement immediately with any information,” Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice Michael Theodore told the newspaper.

Walker was wearing a blue jumpsuit at the time of his escape and is described as an African American male, 5-feet-11 inches, about 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Kane County Chronicle.
