Kane Co. Releases Survey to Find Out How to Help At-Risk Kids

Officials hope to use the results "to identify the gaps" in the county when it comes to helping troubled youth in the area.

Kane County officials want to help at-risk kids in the area, and they’re asking residents for suggestions.

The county’s Juvenile Justice Council has begun conducting a survey “to identify the gaps in services for youth and their families,” according to the council’s website. The survey, which takes residents 10 to 15 minutes to fill out, is being paid for by a state grant, and officials hope to generate at least 2,000 responses, a story in the Daily Herald reported.

“We’ll use the results of the survey to try to get better outcomes for kids who are in the (juvenile court) system and to try to prevent kids from coming into the system in the first place,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon told the Daily Herald on Tuesday.
