Man Arrested for Car Burglary at XSport Fitness in St. Charles
Police are investigating whether the Nov. 30 car burglary is related to other car burglaries recently reported at the fitness center.
Police arrested a 29-year-old Carol Stream man last week for a burglarizing a car in the parking lot of XSport Fitness, police said.
Nicholas S. Castiglia, of 868 Woodhill Drive in Carol Stream, is charged with burglary, a class 2 felony; possession of burglary tools, a class 4 felony; and criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor. Police are also looking into whether Castiglia is responsible for several other car burglaries recently reported at XSport Fitness.
Police were called to the St. Charles fitness center on Nov. 30 for a report of a person who was in the parking lot, looking into vehicles, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release.

Detectives watched as Castiglia broke the window of a Pontiac Vibe, reached into the car and took a bag from inside the vehicle, police said. When officers converged on the area, Castiglia fled in a Chevrolet Express van at a high rate of speed.
When he thought he had gotten away, Castiglia stopped at an area McDonald’s in South Elgin and got out of the van. Police were still following him and detectives took him into custody, according to the news release.

He remained in custody as of Sunday morning at the Kane County Jail on a $75,000 bond, according to online jail records.
St. Charles Police are reminding people to make sure their vehicles are locked and any valuables are kept out of view to reduce the chance of becoming a target.
