Man Tried to Lure Teen Into Car, Later Showed Up at His Home: Police

Authorities in St. Charles are investigating a report of a suspicious incident involving a man who approached a 13-year-old boy last week and told him to get into his car.

Authorities said the boy was walking home in the 3500 block of Voltaire Lane in St. Charles at about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 when a grey, newer model Land Rover pulled ahead of him and parked, according to a St. Charles Police Department press release. At that point, the man, who is described as a large, Hispanic male, got out of the vehicle and approached the boy and allegedly told him to get into the car.

The teen ran away from the man and returned to his home, according to the news release. The boy said about 20 minutes later, the same man was in front of his house and appeared to be looking in.

The incident was later reported to police on Thursday, Feb. 23.

The man was as a large, Hispanic male who was between 40 and 50 years old. He was wearing a black hat, dark puffy jacket, baggy light blue jeans and reflecting white shoes, according to police. The subject was wearing sunglasses.

The teen said the Land Rover had the license plate covered with light purple tape, making it unreadable.
