Minor Injuries Reported When Squad Car, Vehicle Collide
A St. Charles Police Department squad car and vehicle collided and one person was cited following the crash.

ST. CHARLES, IL – A St. Charles man has been cited in a crash involving a local police officer. Lowell Yarusso,, 71, of the 700 block of Liberty Avenue, received a ticket for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle in connection to the recent collision. Authorities said a St. Charles Police Department officer was responding to a report of a different vehicle crash when the collision occurred.
The officer was heading south on South 2nd Street, with the squad cars' emergency lights and sirens activated, when the police vehicle entered the intersection with Prairie Street at 10:24 a.m. on Friday. A vehicle traveling west on Prairie allegedly failed to yield to the squad car, causing the crash, according to a news release from the police department.
Minor injuries were reported in the crash and neither Yarusso or the police officer went to the hospital, police said.
