National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory For July 18

The St. Charles Fire Department's Emergency Management Agency is closely monitoring weather conditions.

The National Weather Service Chicago, IL has issued a Heat Advisory for our area for Saturday, July 18, 2020, from noon to 10 p.m. A Heat Advisory is issued when the heat index—a measure of temperature and humidity levels—is expected to reach 105℉.

The St. Charles Fire Department’s Emergency Management Agency is closely monitoring weather conditions. Cooling Centers in St. Charles will open Saturday to give residents a safe place to escape the heat.

Open noon to 5 p.m.

Please follow these safety tips during hot weather:

  • Use air conditioners or spend time in air-conditioned locations
  • Use portable electric fans to exhaust hot air from rooms or draw in cooler air
  • Minimize exposure to the sun
  • Stay hydrated—regularly drink water or other nonalcoholic beverages
  • Check on your relatives, neighbors and loved ones to be sure they are managing the high temperatures
