Open House To Be Held at New Police Station

ST. CHARLES, IL — An open house and dedication ceremony for the new St. Charles Police Department will be held in November, officials said. The new facility at 1515 W. Main Street opened on Sept. 16 and is meant to "accommodates modern policing and will support the City’s policing operations for the next 50 years," according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

The dedication begins at 10 a.m. on Nov. 9 and an open house will follow. Tours of the facility will continue through noon, police said.

“Please come out and join us in dedicating our new Police Station,” said St. Charles Police Chief James Keegan in a statement. “This is a facility the entire community can be proud of for generations to come.”

The new St. Charles Police Department station broke ground in July 2018 and officially opened in recent weeks. The new police department features an on-site storm water detention system to provide regional detention capabilities, according to a news release. In addition, metal and bricks from demolished buildings formerly on the site were salvaged and repurposed.

The police station also has an evidence room with bar-coding system, wellness center/locker room, and community room for public use.
