The arts and arts programming will be on display as part of a gallery that will be exhibited through Oct. 27.

A reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday heralds the opening of the neXt gallery at Charlie’s, part of the All Arts Pop-Up Event at Charlestowne Mall, 3800 E. Main St. The gallery runs through Oct. 27.
The St. Charles Arts Council, in a release, said that at the opening reception, patrons can browse the gallery, meet the artists, and enjoy a wine and cheese buffet — and pick up a coupon for a Classic Cinemas promotion. The gallery has a fascinating, eclectic exhibition of artwork for sale, featuring painting, photography, and sculpture — in an unusual, “repurposed” 7,000-square-foot retail space.

The neXt gallery is a “Pop Up” gallery, which, if you haven’t heard of the idea before, is typically an empty storefront/office building that is transformed into a temporary art gallery for a short period of time. The neXt gallery program is an initiative of the St. Charles Arts Council and is designed to create energy, excitement, and opportunities for artists — as pop-up galleries have done in Chicago’s Loop, Evanston, and elsewhere — and to provide opportunities for artists to showcase and be compensated for their talent.
The Arts Council encourages building owners, volunteers, art supporters, and art collectors to get involved in this program to support the arts and St. Charles, and encourages artists to contact the SCAC to learn about neXt gallery opportunities.
