Superstitious Barber Grants Son’s Wish to Cut Cubs Design
"I figured if I did this good thing, that could only help the Cubs with their wins--I was feeling very superstitious this week."

One Aurora boy with a unique Cubs design shaved on his head has been getting a lot of attention at school this past week. And today, following the Cubs World Series win, should be especially popular.
Julius Arroyo, 9, had been bugging his father, who is a barber, to cut the design for weeks. With Cubs fever in full-effect this past week, Eddie Arroyo, 34, who works at Headliners Barbershop in Aurora, backed down and agreed to give his son, who is a fourth-grade student at McCleerly Elementary School, his wish.
“He’s wanted the design to show off at school,” Eddie Arroyo said. “One day this past week, I said to him, ‘he, you know what, I’m going to do that design for you.’”

So, during Game 6 on Tuesday, while the father and son watched the game, Eddie Arroyo used his trimmers and a razor and carefully freehanded the design, using a Cubs hat as inspiration for the artwork.
The city of Aurora on Thursday shared the photo Arroyo's awesome design on their Facebook page.

Arroyo said he hadn’t planned to cut the design this past week. But pressure from his son, who had already told his friends and teachers he’d be coming to school with the design, and a good dose of superstition on the part of Arroyo, a lifelong Cubs fan, lead him to go ahead and grant his son his wish.
“I figured if I did this good thing, that could only help the Cubs with their wins--I was feeling very superstitious,” Arroya said with a laugh. “I didn’t want anything getting in the way at all of the Cubs winning.”
