Shots Fired, Man Arrested In Domestic-Released Incident: Police

Zachary S. Cacciatore was arrested early Thursday after shots were fired on West Main Street in St. Charles.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 31-year-old South Elgin man faces several felony charges after he fired shots during a domestic-related incident in St. Charles last week, authorities said.

Zachary S. Cacciatore was arrested early Thursday in connection with the incident, which was first reported in the 200 block of West Main Street, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

Police responded to the area at about 12:30 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired. Cacciatore fled the area after he approached a man, while armed with a handgun, and pointed the gun directly at him, police said.

He fired the gun while fleeing south on 3rd Avenue, according to the news release. No one was injured and no property was damaged when the shots were fired, authorities said.

Police found the man near a home in unincorporated St. Charles and took him into custody after a brief foot chase.

"This was a domestic-related incident that was isolated to the parties involved and not a random act of violence. We believe shots were fired but not at a particular person or dwelling," according to the news release.

Cacciatore has been charged with aggravated battery/public place, aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct/bodily harm, battery/physical contact, assault and unlawful use of a weapon/possession of a firearm in public.
