• 12-unit apartment building planned for long vacant downtown St. Charles property (dailyherald.com) — A long-vacant, city-owned lot at Illinois Street and Route 31 in downtown St. Charles is finally slated for a four-story building with ground-floor parking and 12 apartments. The City Council approved a redevelopment agreement that includes selling the land for $100,000, reimbursing some streetscape costs, and installing electrical infrastructure, with construction to start by May 1 and occupancy targeted by December 2027.
