St. Charles To Close Illinois Street Bridge And Indiana Street Pedestrian Bridge
Traffic from the Illinois St Bridge will be diverted to both the Prairie St Bridge and Main St Bridge while this closure remains in effect.

For the safety of drivers and pedestrians, the City of St. Charles has closed the Illinois Street Bridge and the Indiana Street Pedestrian Bridge due to rising levels of the Fox River after severe overnight storms. Traffic from the Illinois St. Bridge will be diverted to both the Prairie St. Bridge and Main St. Bridge while this closure remains in effect.

These walkways along the Fox River also are closed: the Bob Leonard Memorial Walkway, the riverwalk near the Municipal Building, the Freedom Trail, and the new riverwalk along the 1st Street development.

- Never enter floodwater, no matter how shallow it seems. The water can contain debris and contaminants that are detrimental to your health.
- The Restricted Boating Area designation by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for the Fox River also remains in effect.
The St. Charles Public Works Department is monitoring river levels and will reopen the bridges and walkways once river levels recede.
