St. Charles Cycling Up for Home Electronic Recycling
St. Charles and Kane County are partners in the program, which beginning Aug. 20 will accept discarded computers, televisions, DVD players, printers and power tools, among other items.

Beginning Aug. 20, St. Charles residents can dispose of their old electronics at the St. Charles Public Works facility, 1405 S. 7th Ave., from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, the city announced on its website. The city’s new Electronics Recycling Drop-Off program offers a way to properly dispose of home electronics, which were banned from landfills in Illinois as of Jan. 1, 2012.
The city offers a link to the complete list of items that will be accepted at www.stcharlesil.gov, on the Recycling and Waste page. The list also is posted at the drop-off facility, according to the city.
Items that will not be accepted include white goods, large appliances, extra-large wood speakers, loose batteries and household hazardous waste, the city's announcement states. More information is available on the city's web page announcing the program.
