Did you just hear a collective roar of jubilation and shouts of "free at last"?
If you did and don't know why exactly, today marks the last day of school for District 303 seniors. While classes are over for the graduating group of soon-to-be adults, there are still a few school activities before graduation ceremonies, which are set for Sunday. On Friday students at both high schools will attend graduation practice at 7:30 a.m. and then a senior breakfast. East seniors will meet for breakfast at Pheasant Run at 9 a.m. and North seniors will meet at the same time at Hosanna Church. East students are free on Saturday, but at North there is an optional farewell ceremony at 4 p.m. in the auditorium.
Sunday is the big day for the graduates, the day when the tassel positions are shifted and mortar boards become flying objects. Commencement for North students will begin at noon at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. Commencement for East students will also be held at the Sears Centre beginning at 3:30 p.m.
