St. Charles East Student Loses Battle with Cancer
Anna Michele Daley, a junior on the golf team, died Tuesday.
A member of the St. Charles East girl's golf team lost a fight with leukemia Tueday night, according to District 303 officials.
Anna Michele Daley, a junior at East, died after battling cancer, confirmed Jim Blaney, communications director for District 303. Daley was diagnosed with cancer in August. Her teammates played this season with "Anna" stitched on the right sleeves of their golf shirts.
In response to Daley's diagnosis, East golfers’ mothers Amy Crane and Caroline Cayton have organized a bone marrow drive for Daley to coincide with the North-East football game on Oct. 21.

In addition to playing on the golf team, Daley was involved in the Leadership Council at East, Blaney said.
Several Patch readers sent emails saying students were wearing special commemorative T-shirts in honor of Daley today. One reader who emailed St. Charles Patch this morning said that Daley was "loved by so many" who stood beside her during her fight.

Blaney said students have support services available to assist students during this time.
