St. Charles East Volleyball Player Signs Letter of Intent

Stephanie Camper, a St. Charles East volleyball player, signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent with perennial Division II volleyball powerhouse Grand Valley State University.

For Camper, getting an opportunity to play at Grand Valley State is the culmination of her goal of participating at a high level collegiate volleyball program while gaining a superior education. 

“I appreciate the wonderful opportunity given to me by Coach Deanne Scanlon as I begin a new chapter of my life.  I am very excited to be a part of the Grand Valley State volleyball team,” Camper said in a press release. “I know being at Grand Valley State will give me the best opportunity to play at the highest level of DII volleyball while receiving an excellent education that will take me far in life."

St. Charles East High School Head Coach Jennifer Kull praised Camper's dedication to the sport.

“She works extremely hard to be the best player, as well as teammate, she can be. The amount of hours that she commits to this sport is endless," Kull said. "During Stephanie’s three years, she helped lead our team to a Sectional final, a Super Sectional appearance and a third place finish in the state for class 4A.”

Camper, who plays setter for the school varsity program, also plays for the Sports Performance Volleyball Club.

Grand Valley State, the third largest university in Michigan, is located just west of Grand Rapids.

Grand Valley State has won the Directors Cup for the last 8 years, crowning them as the best DII athletic program in the country. The volleyball program is extremely strong as they have made it into the NCAA tournament eight out of the last 12 years, with one national championship, four final four appearances, and three elite eight appearances.
