St. Charles’ Hoban Sisters to Open for Henhouse Prowlers

The Hoban Sisters, of St. Charles, will open for the Henhouse Prowlers during an Evening of Chicago Bluegrass on Saturday, Oct. 20, organized by the St. Charles Noon Rotary Club and the River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles at the .

The 7:30 p.m. concert is being touted as Chicago-style urban bluegrass and is expected to sell out.

This will be the second year the Henhouse Prowlers perform in St. Charles, according to a release from the St. Charles Noon Rotary Club. The nationally recognized bluegrass band has a PBS series soundtrack and has recorded three full-length albums. The is a 2010 Rockygrass Bluegrass Festival winner, a 2010 Telluride Bluegrass competition finalist, winner of the 2009 and 2010 Chicago Music Award, and winner in Best Bluegrass Category, International Acoustic Music Awards, 2009.

“People attending last year’s concert were up on their feet for most of the concert. The bands blended great music that we all knew with the bluegrass style and delivered all with a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyment.” said Bob Brown, the Rotary Club’s event committee chairman. “This is a must -see event for music lovers and anyone who wants to introduce their children to this venue that is rapidly growing in popularity.”

Doors will open to an Evening of Chicago Bluegrass at 6:30 p.m., with the concert to begin at 7:30 p.m., the St. Charles Noon Rotary Club release states.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors older than 60 and $15 for students showing a student ID, according to the release.

St. Charles’ own Hoban Sisters are longtime Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association members, the St. Charles Noon Rotary Club release states. Carly and Jackie Hoban both won top music awards at Pride of the Fox RiverFest in 2009 and have been singing together for the past two years, although they have been singing longer individually. Carly Hoban, 16, tied for top honors with Geneva’s Alyssa Parma, 14, in the 14-and-older category. Jackie Hoban, 13, was best that year in the 11-13 group.
