St. Charles Marks Veterans Day
Morning ceremony at St. Charles' Freedom Shrine; St. Charles North presents concernt tonight.
Today is Veterans Day, a day the nation pauses to honor the sacrifices of the men and women who stand ready to make the “ultimate sacrifice,” putting their lives on the line to preserve our nation’s freedoms.
The public is invited to St. Charles’ annual Veterans Day ceremony at 10:40 a.m. Monday at the city’s Freedom Shrine, behind the St. Charles Police Department, 211 N. Riverside Drive.
The ceremony will begin with a reading of the official Veterans Day Proclamation, followed by an invocation, a salute to the flag, a gun salute and the playing of Taps.

Also participating will be the city’s three veterans organizations — American Legion Post 342, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5036, and American Veterans Post 503 and Women's Auxiliary members.

6:30 p.m. Concert at St. Charles North
Veterans will be the focus of a 6:30 p.m. concert by the St. Charles North High School Music Department. The seventh annual Veterans Celebration Concert will be held in the high school’s auditorium and is free, according to a release last week from St. Charles Community Unit School District 303.
There is only one show, and space is limited, and since past performances have sold out, you should register for free tickets at www.scnmusic.com/veterans. Priority ticketing and seating will be given to veterans.
