St. Charles Mayor To Step Down Next Year At End Of Term
Mayor Raymond Rogina is set to call time on his career in public service following the April 2021 election.

ST. CHARLES, IL — St. Charles Mayor Raymond Rogina announced Monday he will not seek a third term, setting up an open race for the office in the April 2021 election.
After teaching at St. Charles East High School for more than three decades, Rogina started his career in public service as the alderman for St. Charles’ Third Ward in 2011. He was elected to serve as mayor in 2013 and won re-election in 2017.

"This early announcement is done with succession in mind so those eager to vie for the Mayor's Office have time to provide thoughtful consideration and development of their candidacy," Rogina said in a news release.
Rogina said he will spend the rest of his term working with aldermen on the city’s coronavirus response and developing “worthy projects already in concept stage.”

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being an unabashed cheerleader for St. Charles,” Rogina said. “The enrichment I have derived from my role as mayor is beyond description. St. Charles remains my home. I look forward to seeing everyone around town.”
