St. Charles Municipal Center Renovation Starts This Week
Southern entrance and parking lot at Main Street and Riverside Avenue will remain closed for duration of six-month project.

Don’t worry — if you blink, you won’t miss it, because it’s going to take awhile: The St. Charles Public Works Department is beginning a six-month-long exterior construction project at the , beginning this week.
“The project will address deficiencies in the exterior shell of the building caused by natural aging of the facility,” said Assistant Public Works Director Peter Suhr. “The facility will receive a new roof, brick repair, new windows, stone repair and painting. This maintenance project will ensure the building remains weather-tight for years to come.”
According to a release from the city, the building will remain open during normal hours, and all city business will continue as usual throughout the construction period. The southeast parking lot, also called the checkerboard lot at Main Street and Riverside Avenue, will be closed during construction, as will the building’s south entrance. Public access will remain open on the north side of the building, and short-term parking will be available near entrance for visitors.
More information about the project, including updates, progress reports and other news can be found on the city website, www.stcharlesil.gov, or call Public Works at 630-377-4405.
