St. Charles Park District Names Holly Cabel as New Chief
Board promotes from within to fill leadership post left by the former executive director's retirement.

St. Charles Park District Board on Wednesday chose Holly Cabel as the new director of parks and recreation, taking over the reins of an agency headed by Ray Ochromowicz until his retirement in August.
The board’s action is effectively immediately, according to a release from the Park District. A longtime Park District employee, Cabel’s prior roles included eight years as recreation superintendent, five years as assistant recreation superintendent, and a four years as a recreation supervisor.
“The Park District’s staff is its most valuable asset. Among them, we are fortunate to have found a natural leader in Holly Cabel,” Park Board President Karrsten Goettel said in the release.

“Holly has proven herself as a qualified and devoted member of the Park District management team for many years, garnering the support and endorsement of the staff, park board and community members,” said Park Commissioner James F. Cooke said in the release. “I fully anticipate her transition to Park District director will be virtually seamless, and that she will provide the district with the integrity of leadership it deserves.”
“The Park District is a passion of mine,” Cabel said in the release. “It is nationally recognized for its exceptional parks, programs and services. I am honored to serve as director and am excited to continue to work with staff, the park board and the St. Charles community.”
