St. Charles Residents Earn College Academic Honors

27 singled out for deans' lists, other accolades.

Aurora University: 24 from St. Charles on fall 2012 Dean's List

Aurora University had 819 undergraduate students on its fall 2012 Dean's List, 24 of whom are from St. Charles.

To be eligible, students must attain a 4.0 grade-point average while completing at least 12 credit hours during the semester. The regular honors list recognizes students who achieve a GPA of 3.6 to 3.99.

The following St. Charles students were named to the Dean's List:

Aurora University educates more than 4,300 students at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. In addition to its main campus in Aurora, Aurora University offers programs online, at its George Williams College campus in Williams Bay, Wis., and at the Woodstock Center in downtown Woodstock, Ill.

Amanda Engel on Cornell College Dean's List

Amanda Engel, of St. Charles, is among 254 students named to the fall 2012 Dean’s List at Cornell College.

The designation requires the students to earn a GPA of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale. "Highest honors" are granted to students with 4.0 averages; "high honors" are awarded to students with 3.8 to 3.99 averages; and "honors" include grade point averages of 3.6 to 3.79.

Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, is a national liberal arts college founded in 1853. The college's entire hilltop campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jacqueline Greene Inducted into Jesuit Honor Society

Creighton University College of Arts & Sciences student Jacqueline Greene, of St. Charles, was inducted Feb. 3 into the student chapter of the Jesuit Honor Society Alpha Sigma Nu during a ceremony in the Harper Center Hixson-Lied Auditorium.

Membership in Alpha Sigma Nu is the highest honor bestowed on an individual from a Jesuit university based on criteria of service, loyalty and scholarship. Inductees are nominated by faculty, staff, administrators and Alpha Sigma Nu members who feel individuals are deserving of such an honor.

Katherine Lynne Nelson on Missouri S&T Honor List

Sophomore in biological sciences student Katherine Lynne Nelson of St. Charles, has been named to the honor list for the 2012 fall semester at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.

Honor list recipients must have taken at least 12 hours and had GPA averages of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0.

With 7,500 students, the Missouri University of Science and Technology was founded in 1870. The technological research university is part of the four-campus University of Missouri System.
