
A union pay freeze is credited for helping produce a balanced District 303 budget, which received school board approval Monday night.
The 2011-12 budget shows an anticipated $193.2 million in revenues and lists expenditures totaling $193 million for the St. Charles school district, according to an Aug. 8 Daily Herald article.
District 303 helped avoid a $5 million deficit because of a pay freeze agreed to by unions, according to an Aug. 8 Kane County Chronicle article. Only one union will receive a pay raise this year.

Despite the balanced measure for this year, forecasts show that the district's budget will run into a deficit by 2016, according to the Daily Herald article.
