St. Charles Trash Collection Days to Change

Advanced Disposal will collect trash on two days a week instead of three. The change will affect those who have had trash hauled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The city recently approved a new five-year contract with its trash hauler, but there is one change that will affect roughly two-thirds of residents starting July 1.

Advanced Disposal, formerly Veolia, will change its refuse collection from three days a week to just two. The company collects trash and recyclables on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Beginning July 1, the Wednesday collections will end, which will spark route changes:

The change first was announced when the City Council approved the new contract.

“Residents may have seen the postcards Advanced Disposal mailed out this week announcing the changes,” said St. Charles Environmental Services Manager John Lamb. “The consolidation of the city's collection schedule from three days to two is part of the city's new five-year contract with Advance.  Benefits to the city include greater efficiency of collection, improved appearance because of fewer days for waste to be out in neighborhoods, and reduced trips for large, heavy garbage trucks traveling on city streets.”

Residents with questions about their refuse pickup are invited to call Advanced Disposal at 630-587-8282 or the St. Charles Public Works Department at 630-377-4405.
