The list includes Haines, Lincoln, Munhall, Wasco, Ferson Creek, Fox Ridge, Bell-Graham and Norton Creek.

Eight St. Charles schools were honored Thursday for being named to the 2010 Illinois Honor Roll.

Haines, Lincoln, Munhall, Wasco, Ferson Creek, Fox Ridge, Bell-Graham and Norton Creek schools were named to the list for their "remarkable" achievement in academic excellence, said Christopher Koch, the Illinois state superintendent of education during a presentation at a St. Charles school Thursday morning.

Speaking before gymnasium filled with elementary school students, Koch talked about the 19 schools from the Tri-City districts who had sustained high performance during at least the past three years. He also recognized Batavia's achievement of celebrating its 100th anniversary as a district.

"This is about your achievement," Koch said at the ceremony, referring to students at the schools.

"This kind of academic achievement requires that everyone at school and at home is working extraordinarily hard to keeping growing and learning," Koch said in a release.
